Follow these pointers to smooth out any potential bumps in the interviewing process, and improve your chances of getting the right job, for the right pay, with the right company.

1. In preparation: 

• Research the company and its products.
• Know what kind of interview to expect (a screening interview, a technical interview, or an informational interview).
• Be able to describe your typical day.
• Give three reasons why you want the position.

2. The Q&A process; don’t be caught off guard.

• When asked a question, feel free to ask for clarification before answering.
• Take some time to formulate your answers before you speak.
• Practice answering questions you might be asked before hand. 
• Answer questions honestly, but in the best, most positive light.
• Never bad mouth old employers. Doing so is a sure-fire way to end an interview.
